CP Reel Fishing

Home: Welcome

Bringing the sport of fishing to kids

We are two high school anglers looking to share our skills and experiences (fishing obsession) with kids through the fun of fishing. We've been playing baseball together for years now and started catching fish down at the creek in between baseball games. From Blue Gill, catfish, trout, and jack smelt to our favorite BASS fishing we will be able to teach your kids a variety of skills while having a blast outdoors.

Cade Ruggiero

Experienced Bass Fisherman

Hi my name is Cade and I'm a freshman at Los Gatos High School. I first learned how to fish from my grandpa. In 5th grade I started watching a lot of youtube videos about how to catch fish and that's when I got hooked. I called a local bait store for worms and began catching bluegill at the creek by my house. Later on my friends started joining and fishing was a blast. After awhile I searched online and learned how to catch bigger fish (BASS). I am really excited to get to work with kids and teach them about something I am passionate about. I've taken lessons and learned a lot from guided tours in Hawaii, Tahoe, Alisal, and Mexico. Between Pat and I we can share our experiences catching Ono, Jack smelt, Salmon, Halibut, Perch, Carp, Snappers, and Trout and all about the cool techniques to hook a fish.

Patrick Rooney

Experienced Bluegill Fisherman

Hi my name is Patrick Rooney, and I am a freshman at Los Gatos High School. I have been playing baseball since I was 7 and hope to continue playing through High School. I learned how to fish 3 years ago from fishing with guides, and watching YouTube videos. I started out fishing at my local creek and fishing ponds by my house, that I still fish at to this day. When I started fishing I mostly targeted bluegill at the creek, and now I am an experienced Bass angler who enjoys fishing 24/7. Cade and I wanted to start CP Reel Fishing to teach kids how to fish and share our fishing skills with the community.

The 2 of us are patient and passionate about fishing. We are believers in catch and release. We do NOT want to harm or kill any fish. It is important for us to respect the preservation of the fishing environment. We do this for the fun of fishing and the adrenaline rush once the fish strikes. From there the battle to land the fish begins... If you schedule lessons and time with us, we can guarantee at the end of the day you or your kids will:
1) Learn how to tie basic fishing knots
2) Learn how to "rig" a fishing pole
3) Learn how to cast and use various casting techniques
4) Learn how to bait and learn what are the best baits to use for catching different fish
5) Learn how to take fish off of the hook
6) Learn how to weigh each fish
7) Most important-Catch a fish!
*We can't guarantee you will always catch a ton of fish, but we bet you'll get HOOKED
8) A fun and entertaining day!
